Happy Birthday Dad xXx There are very few people who can be described as 'exceptional', but my Dad truly deserved that characterization. By definition it means 'having much more than average intelligence, ability, or skill'. Whatever Dad turned his hand to he would master in a very short space of time. He would then challenge the design and inner workings of the subject/ method and establish far superior ways of his own, which allowed him to produce even higher standards than the 'experts' he had learnt from. What is perhaps even more humbling is that Dad never used his 'brilliance' for his own gain. He took his skills and used them to make other people happy. Whether it was playing the drums, sign writing, glass engraving, creating pieces of art etc etc he would put in 110% into whatever he was doing and create something more impressive than anyone (including himself sometimes) could have ever imagined. The overwhelmed reactions were Dad's payment, his reward. Dad's drive and inspiration came from the happiness he could bring to others, which explains why being such an amazing Dad was so effortless. He made everyday an exciting adventure and inspired Darren and I more than could possibly explain. That inspiration shaped the musicians and creative people that we are today. There were no bounds to Dad's wisdom or ability and I'm eternally grateful for the music, adventures and skills he shared. Even though Dad's life was cut far too short he taught me a lifetime worth of lessons. Some of the main one are: Strive to be the best you can be Don't be afraid to challenge the rules Go out and share your skills with the world And perhaps the most important ...Don't underestimate the impact of an act of kindness Love you Dad XxX Jamie xXx
