Dedication

Gerry was a wonderful family man happy, warm, and funny, dedicated to his family and friends. He devoted his life to ensure his wife Maggie and his two sons Darren and Jamie had wonderfully magical experiences. He worked tirelessly to provide all they needed and secure them a happy and unique future. Gerry spent every possible moment with his family, wanting nothing more than to play with his sons and loved surprising them with extravagant gifts and holiday.

Gerry was also an awesome drummer and performer who thrived on the adrenaline of performing to a live and appreciative audience. As the boys grew up they became best friends with their Dad and formed the family band Wipeout (later renamed ‘Shred’). Gerry and his boys performed together for over 21 years, during which time both Darren and Jamie studied in London at the Musicians Institute. Gerry drove to London every Friday evening for many years to collect one of his sons. Then drive back to Swindon on the Saturday to perform with the family band that night and then Gerry would drive back to London on the Sunday. He did this with love and although he was often exhausted Gerry revelled in the whole experience.

He was an exceptionally gifted man who could turn his hand to anything creative - artwork, painting murals, canal art, sign writing, wood burning glass engraving and had incredible DIY skills. He was also a great and much loved drum teacher and enjoyed performing alongside his students at school concerts of whom he was very proud.

Travelling was a great passion and with his wife and sons went to many countries. Romantic breaks were his favourite going to the Maldives, Paris, Venice, Prague Amsterdam, Greece islands, Egypt, Spain,Ibiza, Majorca, Minorca, America and many more countries.

He loved his garden which he re-landscaped during his illness. He also loved his faithful dog Di whom he trained and bonded with. He loved going on long walks with her and she was his constant companion.

Gerry was looking forward to being a grandfather and a long and happy retirement. Although he was cheated of this he did however meet all of his four grandchildren but unfortunately because of his health was unable to enjoy them to the full extent.

Gerry saved three peoples lives from drowning. A six year old boy when on holiday in Bali in Crete, and two women swept out to sea in the Maldives’.

He would do anything for anyone as an act of kindness.

He loved his family and friends and wanted the best for them, always putting them before himself.

Happy, always smiling, full of fun and adventure, imaginative, exciting, funny, kind,
compassionate, diplomatic, romantic, generous, sensitive, strong, brave and noble, proud. He was truly awesome!

Although his life was sadly cut short after a long brave battle with cancer he left a huge legacy of his love and loving gift of his talents to his family. His loss is devastating to us all and has left a huge void in our lives.

God bless you Gerry.
We hope you are now healed and can go forth spiritually to experience
anything you desire, surrounded by love, beauty music and nature. We know you are watching over us and guiding us still. We love you and miss you more than words can say and look forward to being reunited on the other side when we will be together again for all eternity! xxxxxxxxxx
